DRUG POLICY
The Total Martial Arts Centre (TMAC) condemns the use of prohibited substances and methods in sport and adheres to the World Anti-Doping Code. All students and staff of the TMAC are bound by this policy.
Introduction
This policy is adopted by TMAC and commits to the purposes of the World Anti-Doping Program and the Code, namely:
- to protect the athletes' fundamental right to participate in doping-free sport and thus promote health, fairness and equality for athletes worldwide; and
- to ensure harmonized, coordinated and effective anti-doping programs at the international and national level with regard to detection, deterrence and prevention of doping.
The Total Martial Arts Centre is not a sporting body or sanctioning body per se and, as such, is not empowered to conduct testing in, and of, its own right. The TMAC will however abide by the determinations and regulations of those sporting bodies that are. The use of prohibited substances and methods is contrary to the ethics of sport and potentially harmful to the health of athletes and is contrary to the nature of budo and the ethical standards of The Total Martial Arts Centre.
The TMAC aims to promote the prevention of Doping practices in sport by educating and informing staff and students about drugs in sport issues.
Staff or students using or promoting the use prohibited substances and methods will face sanctions from the TMAC. Sanctions from the TMAC can include:
- Expulsion from a course (with no refund due), or
- Dismissal from employment, or
- Cessation of training until the relevant penalty has concluded, or
- Any other penalty deemed as fair and just by the Director(s)
The burden of proof of the Anti-Doping rule violations lies upon the body making the accusation and all methods of gathering information relating to the violations must be in keeping with the World Anti-Doping Code.
No TMAC instructor or coach will prescribe, recommend or provide drugs, controlled substances or supplements that are illegal, prohibited, or harmful to athletes for any purpose including enhancing athletic performance, conditioning or physique. Only those substances that are lawful and have been scientifically proven to be beneficial – or at least not harmful – may be recommended or provided to athletes by TMAC personnel.
